ABOUT

Millie Mitchell, LICSW

I started out as an intern working in hospice and palliative care and obtained a certification in End-of-Life Care while in Graduate School at the University of South Carolina. In everything that I’ve done and the places I’ve been employed, I found my passion has always been in end-of-life care and support.

Once my mother passed, I experienced a period of intense sadness and isolation. I wondered how things could have been different if my mother would have shared more information with us regarding her health status. I sometimes thought if we would have known more about the severity of her diagnosis and prognosis, maybe we could have ensured that she was well supported and surrounded by family and friends at a time when it was needed most.

During my personal journey of grief and loss, I started to look at the process of death and dying through an even greater lens. Why aren’t people open to expressing their needs or asking for support? Why do people say the weirdest things instead of having the realistic and difficult conversations? Why do people shut down during discussions about their final arrangements and wishes? What is the fear?

I later obtained additional training in grief education and end-of-life doula care services to have a broader knowledge on death work. My sincere passion is to offer compassionate support and guidance to those facing end of life challenges and the grief of loss. How can we find strength and peace in the unknown and support each other through the struggle. My goal is to ensure that individuals and families receive compassionate care, feel understood, and obtain a sense of peace during these profound life transitions.

Mission

To offer care and support to individuals and families who need a comforting and empathetic presence during difficult times. To provide support that is tailored to your personal narrative while pledging to accompany you and your loved ones through the journey. To offer tranquility amid turmoil and comfort when it is most sought after. To walk with you ensuring dignity and kindness-because we believe that every story, every life, and every legacy is to be cherished.

Vision

My vision is to provide personalized services that respect your uniqueness while offering a safe space to be heard. I desire to provide support to all people especially those in underserved populations. I plan to offer one on one grief counseling, educational and community resources, and legacy services while assisting with navigating the complexities and emotional challenges of end-of-life care, grief, and bereavement.
